Hi I’m Gill , I started my business around 2 years ago, when my son graduated from university and left home. I had always dreamed of working for myself but as a single mum it was never the right time.
Back in 1998 when I was a member of Lee-on-Solent Sailing Club, who were in need of publicity and I had just completed a CAM Diploma in Public Relations. I went on to become a freelancer for Yachts and Yachting as a feature writer, and then managing the PR for Round the Island Race and Cowes Week.
I worked as a pr assistant for Portsmouth Historic Dockyard but was offered a promotion of Event Co-ordinator, which was an amazing opportunity as I helped organized event through out the year one of them being the Festival of Christmas which attracts around 30,000 visitors each year.
It was 2015 when I became Marketing and PR Manager of Groundlings Theatre, which is a small theatre in Portsmouth who really needed help with getting the local people to use them. I arranged a press launch for them, which would show all the magic of this old theatre. It went down a storm with the media and the theatre gained a lot of coverage. It was because of this I was approached by the Kings Theatre in Portsmouth to become their Press Manager.
Working in theatre is a job like no other there is opportunities for photo calls, and large press launches for new shows. Plus being creative for shows that are not selling. I worked with most of the media outlets on the South Coast plus some of the nationals. I loved my time at the Kings Theatre it was certainly an adventure, but I am now self employed and love giving my creative brain to other businesses who need help with getting media coverage.
